APS Bank is one of the oldest banks in the Maltese Islands and is a leading provider of financial services, offering personal, business and investments solutions. Its distribution channels consist of a network of branches and ATMs complemented by a versatile electronic banking platform which serves the retail and commercial customer base. Being a pillar of community banking for over a century, APS Bank is committed as ever to the economic and social development of its marketplace.

Over the past decade or so APS Bank has been a leader in supporting the communities where it is largely active. Known particularly for being a leading sponsor of various initiatives in the fields of culture, literature, education and youth, in recent years the Bank has decided to focus on contemporary issues of interest to society.

Through its CSR programme, the Bank is currently supporting various associations such as “100 Women in Finance”, advocating the men/women equality through the co-organisation of conferences. The Bank also partners with St Jeanne Antide Foundation, on the theme of the violence made at women, which is one of the critical topics highlighted in the Gender Equality Index report published by the European Institute for Gender Equality.
Recently the Bank has financed and promoted “Diversity: Recognising Individuality”, a photo exhibition, calendar and a publication that recognises the many characteristics that give individuals and communities their unique identity.

Last year the Bank supported, in partnership with the President’s Trust, the Readathon, a reading marathon with the main goal to increase reading among children. Funds were collected from each book read with the aim to purchase special educational equipment for children with visual impairment.

During World Book Day and World Music Day, the Bank is selling series of books and CDs with all the proceeds going to Dar tal-Providenza, a local organisation that is offering individualised residential services to Persons with Disabilities in a family-like environment which enhances and maximises their abilities with a view to ensuring their full participation in society.

Very close to its communities, the Bank has developed in addition to a dedicated account for international students, studying at the University Of Malta, various initiatives such as the “GREEN Space”, a multipurpose space where students can have a break, gather and relax, allowing them to better cope with the demands of their studies. The Bank supports the University in its efforts to promote greater environmental and sustainability awareness amongst the student community.

In the next few weeks, the Bank will open the APS Hub, a facility allowing NGOs, students and teams to meet, access to the Internet organise exhibitions free of charge, addressing the need these communities have for space that most of the time they cannot afford.

The Bank is a partner of the AEGLE Project, a non-profit initiative with the mission to advance the quality of life through improved mobility. The 2019 Bank’s calendar “Time to Care” was realised, through a photo competition, with the objective to raise awareness and inspire people to take action to protect their “home” and environment as a commitment to the well-being of future generations.
